Kobe “Coach Kobe” Shahib, Teaching Professional

Coach Kobe is a Certified Golf Professional with the United States Golf Teachers Federation. Coach Kobe is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He attended public schools in both the Kansas City and Raytown Public School Districts. Coach Kobe served as a leader and team captain throughout his high school career at Raytown South High School (Class of 2021). In addition to the medals and recognition earned, Coach Kobe’s biggest honor includes being featured as Hy-Vee’s “Student Athlete of Week” his Senior year and becoming the first African American Boys golfer to receive such honor.

Coach Kobe was brought up through the First Tee of Greater Kansas City program and has played with a love and passion for golf since his early childhood.  Learning the Nine Core Values and other life lesson learned from The First Tee program developed the essential life skills for Coach Kobe to be successful on and off the golf course. During the time of the global crisis of Covid-19, Kobe’s high school career was interrupted abruptly leading him to take a different path in life.  Kobe graduated from high school determined to give back to the sport he’s most passionate about along with providing a positive impact to the youth of Kansas City and its surrounding communities.

Alongside his father, Secah “Coach S” Shahib, Coach Kobe has been a key figure in the development of the Jr. Golf Programs at the Shoal Creek Driving Range Facility. His strong desire to grow Jr. Golf and encourage minority youth to the game of golf is his personal mission. By having Coach Kobe on staff, the opportunity to teach your child(ren) allows him to be around the game he loves every day and pass down the golf and life skills he learned at an early age.
